The concept of the project presupposes creation of a vibrant infrastructure for residents of Ligovsky City. First and foremost, the infrastructure will focus on social facilities: kindergartens, schools, medical establishments, educational centers and creative workshops.
Structure Ligovsky City
Ligovsky City is a large-scale project of comprehensive development of the Gray Belt of St. Petersburg, being implemented by Glorax Development inside the Volkovo Industrial Zone. The project will help bring together several locations in Frunzensky District, and unique urban environment with their specific city functions will be created in each of those.
Plans are to create a unified space that will consist of very different quarters: business class housing, a business block, social infrastructure facilities, public spaces, creative and recreational zones, and more. The main goal of the project is to create a multifunctional and saturated life environment.
First and foremost, the infrastructure will focus on social facilities: kindergartens, schools, medical establishments, educational centers and creative workshops.
Public spaces, parks, squares and boulevards will also serve as an important part of district infrastructure.
The transport system will receive a new impetus for development with new pedestrian routes, a tram network, and Borovaya Metro Station, which will become the center of a new city transport hub.
Ligovsky City will bring together several locations, each of which will be unique and correspond to a particular lifestyle. The diverse nature of the urban environment will be created not only with what constitutes the interior fabric of quarters, but their external appearance and spatial layout as well. Ligovsky City uses four types of architectural strategy for determining the height of buildings, the look of facades, the location of buildings, the used materials, key and dominant elements. A new identity is created when the look of the building hints at who the residents are, and the character of a resident will point to the quarter he or she must come from.
City squares will form the main public spaces of Ligovsky City. Here residents of different city districts, people of varied interests will meet to interact and just to have a good time. The city square will not only become an infrastructural element; it will determine the essence of the project concept, bringing together many diverse voices.
Ligovsky City parks come in two varieties – public and line parks. The former serve as a major recreational resource for the district since they not only serve as green areas for the residents but also offer a great variety of recreation opportunities. Line parks are living communication arteries of the district that connect the different quarters via pedestrian and bicycle paths, surrounded by greenery on all sides.
